The idea informing the 6 TABLE TUBE D’AVION - OUTDOOR table, which was launched at the 1929 Salon d’Automne in Paris, lies in the distinction between the support and what is supported, in other words, the base and the table top. The separation of the two parts is highlighted by the four intermediate structures. These both regulate the height and serve to maintain the due distance between the heavy base and delicate lines of the table-top. The base was designed in 1928, taking its cue from the oval profiles used in aeronautical design to maintain the distance between the wings of biplanes. The current model is also available as an outdoor version, with a frame in stainless steel finished in powder paints designed for outdoor use and available in six textured colours.

In 1922 Le Corbusier began a professional activity at the new atelier in rue de Sèvres in Paris together with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret with whom he shared research and design criteria with a deep and lasting understanding, witnessed throughout his life. Together, in October 1927, they decided to make use of the contribution of a young architect already present on the operational architectural scene of the moment: Charlotte Perriand. Their collaboration, which will last until 1937, will prove to be extremely fruitful, especially as regards the creation of furniture and the partnership will be extremely valid both for the cultural significance of their affirmations and for the professional results. two face in unison the innovative problem of “l'équipement d'intérieur de habitat” with results of intellectual appeal and together with positive results on the entrepreneurial level.
