"A clever combination of materials, shapes and colours characterises the Inout collection, not only thought for outdoor use but also for indoor fitting. The accurate selection of the materials guarantees the outdoor use. The wooden parts are made of natural solid teak neither stained nor treated, whose timber is resistand to both sunshine and winter rigours. When left raw and in natural state, the teak will in time assume a pleasant silver-grey patina from natural oxidisation of the wood surface. Should you prefer to maintain the original teak, the simple application of teak oil will achieve this, if repeated time to time.The craftsman's skill and complex processing of the ceramics, such as baking and colour glazing, the subtle variations thet occur in dimensions and surface as well as colour, intensity and brightness, ensure each piece is a unique masterpiece, witness of the "hand made" manufacture. In other words "the charme of imperfection" makes each Inout item very precious. Stone, typical for outdoors use, and aluminium, are the other materials which are utilised to complete the collection."

In 1973 she graduated in architecture at the Polytechnic of Turin. Between the '70s and' 80s she worked - alongside Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass Jr., Andrea Branzi - in the Alchimia group, the most advanced wing of the Italian design scene, developing a highly stimulating and productive avant-garde position, which in 1983 she won the prestigious International Design Award in Osaka, assigned for the first time in that year. Torinese of origin and Milanese by adoption, it is, first of all, a citizen of the world: animated by a lively curiosity for the most diverse cultures - especially Eastern ones - it is often on the way, following a natural disposition to cross borders, not just geographical; her long and complex career sees her move with happy ease between the roles of architect, designer, art director, interior decorator, essayist, teacher, curator of exhibitions and events, both on her own and for a selected client: Abet Laminati, Armani Casa , Knoll International, Alessi, Piazza Sempione, Mondo, Driade, Horizons, Arcade, Oltrefrontiera, Casamilano, Antonangeli, Dada, Molteni, Natuzzi, Roche Bobois, Swarovski, are just some of the possible examples. For Gervasoni, she has been curating the artistic direction of the company since 1998, as well as taking care of the design of most of the collections. |
