There are objects that are universally recognized as icons. The Costes armchair that, in 1984, marked the beginning of the collaboration between Philippe Starck and Driade, and the consecration of the then unknown designer in Italy, is certainly one of these objects. Designed for the homonymous, now disappeared, Parisian coffee, owes its timeless success to the absoluteness of form: an enveloping shell in dark wood and three legs strongly inclined.
